The Soundtoys Effect Rack is the centerpiece of Soundtoys 5. It transforms a proven collection of powerful individual plug-ins into a virtually unlimited creative multi-effects system.

The Effect Rack makes it easy to create your own effects chains and develop your signature sound. And once you’ve created the perfect combination of effects, the Rack’s global controls let you use the entire rack as a single plug-in.

Set rhythmic effects to a single tempo or let them run freely. Fine-tune input and output levels and use the global mix control to blend your effect with the dry signal. Then experiment with the powerful global recirculation control. By mixing the rack’s output signals with the input signals, you can create your own modulated reverbs, ethereal delays, and other unique ambience effects that would require complex routing in most DAWs.

Effect Rack combines multiple Soundtoys effects into a single plugin, improving your workflow by allowing you to easily customize the entire custom effects chain without switching between windows. You won’t need to navigate multiple plugin windows to adjust parameters, add new effects, or change their routing. The Effects Panel puts everything at your fingertips.

Many Soundtoys effects feature dedicated control panels that offer more advanced editing capabilities. Here, you can find additional plugin options, such as a choice of saturation styles, precise control over the effect groove, or a selection of different delay algorithms. Our modulation effects offer powerful shape and rhythm editors for creating complex movements. And in Soundtoys 5, we’ve redesigned our control panels to make additional controls easier to find and use. The result is an incredibly customizable set of audio tools you’ll want to use in every project.

Effects that move to your rhythm

At the heart of every modulation effect is an LFO (low frequency oscillator) – this is what gives tremolos, phasers, panners and sweeping filters their characteristic movement.

Our included LFO shape library goes far beyond standard modulation effects, providing curves based on vintage modulation effects, amps, and instruments, as well as more abstract shapes. You can also draw and sculpt your own, fully customized shapes using our shape editor. Use it to create new LFO shapes, from sharp waves to smooth curves.

Our rhythm editor is like a rhythm modulation sequencer. Select the length (in bars) and size of the steps you want to edit (sixteenth notes, eighth notes, quarter notes, etc.), then start clicking to create a new pattern. You can turn individual steps on and off to create rests or breaks, and adjust the level and length of each step to give your rhythm personality and musical variety. You can even choose the number of bars per measure to create funky syncopations or characteristic odd-time rhythms. Like our custom shapes, custom patterns can even be swapped between plug-ins.
