Pianoteq 8 is a virtual instrument from Modartt that uses physical modeling to recreate the sound and behavior of a piano and other instruments. Unlike sampler instruments, it takes up very little disk space, while providing high realism and a wide dynamic range.
Pianoteq 8 was released in November 2022 and includes several significant improvements:
- Dual Polarization: An advanced physics engine that simulates string vibrations in multiple directions, delivering a more complex and realistic sound, especially in the lower register.
- Revoiced Instruments: All modern acoustic pianos, the Vintage Reeds electric piano, and the concert harp have been enhanced for greater authenticity and expressiveness.
- New Instrument – Classical Guitar: A new nylon-string instrument has been added, which, like the other instruments, is based on physically based modeling.
- New Interface: A refreshed and more user-friendly user interface makes it easier to navigate presets and settings.
- Morphing and Layering: Functions for blending multiple instruments and creating hybrid sounds.
- Deeper Control: More options for fine-tuning your sound, including changing hammer hardness, string length, and resonance.
- Brand-Name Models: Instruments endorsed by manufacturers such as Steinway & Sons, Bechstein, Kawai, Bösendorfer, and more.

The logo field is not flashing. This is a fix.
There is only one Piano as well, with all flashing header. 🙁
Go into the Effect settings; through that window you can access all piano model presets and settings. Click on it, you’ll get there. I don’t know why it’s set up like that, but at least it works.

I’tried it the next day, but “…Rev.3…” wasn’t available anymore.
So I downloaded “Rev.4”, but after unpacking and starting the installer, Windows gave a warning. So I stopped to install…
Windows Defender makes a lot of false positives; you don’t want to depend on that. Submit files you’re concerned about at virustotal.

This new version works great in windows. Not sure about the stand alone as I only installed the vst3 version. Thanks for this version
For anyone wondering, 8.4 includes a new grand piano, the Shigeru Kawai EX. We now have every Pianoteq 8 instrument to date!

9 is the newest version. This is an older version. Why it’s uploaded after 9 I don’t know.
Not sure, but this version was originally released this past June. The latest is version 9.0.2
