Freiberg, Saxony, is a unique city, as it has preserved four (!) Silbermann organs. The most famous instrument is the three-manual organ in the cathedral. It was the work of Silbermann’s youth: he built it at the age of 27. The example presented here is a model for another Silbermann work. This is the organ in the Petrikirche (St. Peter’s Church), a two-manual organ with an unusually rich complement of 32 stops.
Although less well known than the nearby cathedral organ, especially now, after its reconstruction, this organ exemplifies Silbermann’s mature craftsmanship of the late Baroque era and is an acoustic ideal for many performers and organ lovers.
ATTENTION! This sample set is version 2.0, which does not include a controllable channel mixer. However, adjusting the relative volume of channels (Direct+Diffuse+Surround) is possible by loading the additional Freiberg – Surround – 3Ch configuration.
To get the highs of extended keyboards to sound correctly, you need to set Equal temperament in the Pitch menu, or load any other temperament file.
